How nice

Ya know, there's something really satisfying about making my mom so excited just because I was able to use a CreateSpace coupon to make a copy of her favorite of the books I've written. I just confirmed the order now, and she can't hardly wait for it to arrive.

Though if anyone else wants a copy, they'll pay for it their own selves, since a single copy would (with shipping and handling and whatnot) come to almost fifteen bucks. I love my friends and family, but there's way too many of them to be that generous.

You should put one or two of your books up on lulu.

I've thought about it. You can sell books through CreateSpace, where I get my books printed out. I think they even have Lulu as an option, along with Amazon and a couple others. The problem is, they take out the cost of printing the book, along with (I think) a little more off the top. So once you factor in that, the price I would have to set the book at to make even a slight profit is higher than I think people would be willing to go for a book by some self-published nobody. I mean, I think I could get a few of my "fans" on devart to buy them, but even that's negligible, since I'm not what you'd call popular over there.

In other words, from a monetary standpoint, I'm not sure it'd be worth it. And artistic integrity and just having the thrill of knowing people are buying my work is lovely, but I expect to make some cash off of it too.

What about in an ebook format? Lulu offers the format - looks like you make 5.59$ on every purchase if you offer the book at 9.99$.

Amazon also has a self-publishing Kindle program thing. Kindle Direct Publishing. (Kindle Apps for PC and Mac are actually free to download so that people can read the books on their computers.) 70% royalties, I'm not sure what pricing looks like, haven't poked around there much yet.

Huh. Well, I'll keep it in mind, anyway. I'm still trying to delude myself into thinking I can get published the old fashioned way, but it's nice to know I have options.
